Who is Inga Boyd?

Kia ora! I’m Inga. I grew up in Ngāmotu New Plymouth, Taranaki, enjoying the beach, surfing, riding ponies and playing music with my family.

I live in beautiful Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai Lower Hutt with my husband Chris, 9-year-old daughter and 13-year-old stepson.

What were you doing before joining Catch?

I have extensive experience in the digital industry over the last ten years.

Most recently, I was a Senior Project Manager at AKQA, working on large-scale websites and critical digital business products for brands such as Partners Life Insurance, The Reserve Bank of NZ and Coastguard NZ. Before that, I held senior Account and Project Management roles at Haunt Digital and Chrometoaster, producing websites and apps for clients such as the Ministry for Primary Industries, The University of Waikato, Ventia, Beervana, Ako Education, Ministry of Education, NZ Companies Office, IPONZ, Smarter Homes, Bluebridge (Straight Shipping) and Callaghan Innovation.

I joined the Catch team in January 2023 and have led the production of digital projects for multiple clients, including TSB Bank, Consumer New Zealand, IPONZ, IAG, Wētā Workshop and the Colin McCahon Research and Publication Trust.

I love the collaborative and dynamic vibe of agency life and enjoy building long-lasting partnerships with my clients and delivery teams.

What’s something people may not know about you?

I am a practising Buddhist. I belong to Sokka Gakai International (SGI), a global community-based network of more than 11 million people in 192 countries based on the humanistic philosophy of Nichiren Buddhism, centred on respect for the dignity of life.

We chant Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo; our practice is focused on transforming one's inner state, learning to overcome life’s challenges, and building courage, compassion, and peace.

I have also taken up drumming in the last couple of years and now play in an amateur covers band comprising three 40-something mums and my kick-arse teenage stepson. We specialise in Lower Hutt house parties and dream of playing a proper set at a local pub one day.

I also learnt how to bake a while ago.

What’s on your bucket list?

Taking my family on an overseas trip to Europe.

What matters most to you when delivering a project?

Building trust through positive, effective communication. Designing and building digital products well requires massive collaboration and cooperation between people within internal teams in partnership with clients and other third parties. PMs and producers are the glue that holds all these connections together. Creating channels and processes that encourage a good flow of information while being a caretaker and gatekeeper of comms and noise allows the ‘doers’ to produce their best work and clients to achieve the best outcomes.

What’s been your proudest career moment at Catch so far?

I can’t think of one particular moment. I do get a buzz out of hanging out with people I work with in real life, though, and attending my first CatchCon with the entire Catch crew in Queenstown last year was a work trip of epic proportions. I am always humbled at how insanely clever and kind all of my colleagues are!

Why Catch?

I like that Catch has a diverse range of clients and projects to be part of. I feel respected and taken care of, and I know that the business has my back if things get gnarly (which they sometimes do in my line of work!). Design and digital agencies are chaotic no matter what, but Catch has a level of organised chaos that allows space for creativity and tricky problem-solving but doesn’t give me sleepless nights of worry. Plus, they have a great snack drawer, a stunning office, and Wellington's best office plants.
